Reiki is a form of alternative medicine, i.e. energy healing, energy medicine, based on the belief that a vital energy flows through the body.
The word Reiki is made of two Japanese words -
Rei, which means God's wisdom or the higher Power.
And Ki, which is life force energy.
The goal of energy healing is to restore the balance of energy to support physical, mental, and emotional well-being.
At times, the natural internal flow of energy can stagnate within the body thus creating energy blocks. In time, these energy blocks may manifest into illnesses and disease. May also disrupt one’s emotional and mental balance.
Reiki energy travels through the body gently dislodging those inner energy blockages - thus allowing that natural internal flow of energy to continue. Click HERE to read my short reiki analogy.
How is Reiki administered?
Reiki practitioners use a technique called palm healing or hands on healing, as well as long distance reiki healing, through which universal energy is transferred through the palms of the practitioner to the patient - thus improving the natural flow and balance of internal energy to support healing.
An in person reiki session takes place while the client is lying on a treatment table or sitting comfortably supported in a chair.
Reiki flows through the practitioner's hands and into the client through light touch - with the practitioner's hands placed and held for several minutes on, or for no touch, held just above the clients body.
What is long distance Reiki?
During reiki training, practitioners learn the symbols that as used during future healing sessions - one of which is the distance symbol.
When invoked, this symbol enables and assists the practitioner in sending reiki energy to clients that are not able to meet for an in person session.
So instead of transferring reiki energy through an in person session, practitioners use their thoughts and intentions in sending reiki energy to the client.
What are intentions?
Intentions are the words and thoughts that one forms in their mind.
Intentions are an idea that you plan (or intend) to carry out. If you mean something, it's an intention.
Your goal, purpose, or aim is your intention. It's something you mean to do.
Albert Einstein and Nikola Tesla have shown us through their work that everything is made up of energy.
Everything. This includes our thoughts and words.
Intention is the driving force that moves energy = our thoughts and words.
In regards to long distance reiki, the words and thoughts that are formed within the practitioner's mind, before they begin the session, may be something like this:
I am asking the universal energies to send this long distance reiki healing energy to "such and such." Those words are the practitioner's intentions.
As energy is weightless and is able to move and flow freely, once those intentions are said, they move along that energetic current within the universe to the person mentioned.
As with reiki, it is not the practitioner that is doing the healing. The practitioner is merely a vessel for the healing energy to flow into, through and out of, to the client.
Whether that be an in-person session or a long distance. Energy is energy.
